‘Suspicious’ fire turned over to city police to investigate

City fire crews have turned a structure fire scene over to the North Bay Police Service for investigation.

This after officials say the cause of the blaze at a newly built home on Shallot Crescent was determined to be suspicious.

Deputy Fire Chief Greg Saunders says crews responded just after 9 pm Thursday to numerous calls about a structure fire.

“Upon arrival, firefighters observed significant smoke and flame coming from the roof of the home,” he says. “Firefighters made entry to the home, entered into the attic area, and successfully extinguished the fire. The inside of the residence had suffered significant damage as a result of the fire.”

Saunders says there was nobody in the newly built home at the time of the fire as the residence is currently vacant and available for sale.
