TAYLOR, DANIEL

Dan passed away peacefully at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the age of 88 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer and dementia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Anne, sons Bill (Tammy), Wayne (Pam) and Michael (Tina). He will also be missed by his six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Dan was born in Hamilton Ontario, left home to serve in the RCR and trained as a medic. He also worked as an orderly at the Sudbury hospital and then at INCO. Dan and Anne were married in Sudbury and then moved to Oshawa where he worked in the hospital in Whitby. The family of four then moved to North Bay and their third son was born. Dan worked while he completed his medical laboratory technology course at Canadore College. Unfortunately, jobs were scarce, so he started his own business, DAT Office Equipment. Dan travelled throughout the North and this business provided for his family for 40+ years.
Dan and Anne were fortunate to spend many winters in Florida which they really enjoyed later in life. He loved Disney and acquired the persona of “Grumpy”, trying his best to live up to that reputation! Dan enjoyed camping, war re-enactment, (especially Gettysburg), woodworking, leatherwork, archery, and realistic gory make-up costumes for Halloween.
Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Friday from 10 to 11:30 am. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 12 noon. Cremation will take place at Forest Lawn Crematorium.
The family is grateful for the kindness and care in Dan’s last days at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations to the North Bay Serenity Hospice or Aush-Bik-Koong camp (c/o Bethel Gospel church) would be appreciated by the family.
