Team Winters heading to U20 Nationals

By Richard Coffin

North Bay’s Team Winters U18 curling team is going to the U20 Nationals.

This after the local rink, which plays out of the North Bay Granite Club, advanced to the finals of the U20 Provincials in Fort Frances, this past weekend.

Skipped by Riley Winters, the team finished round robin play with a 5-1 record and advanced to the final where they lost 8-6 to a Sudbury rink on the last rock.

Team Winters, which includes third Wesley Decary, second Grayson Gribbon and lead Aidan Baxter, will now be Northern Ontario Team 2 at the U20 Nationals in Summerside, PEI in March.

Next up for the local curlers is the U18 Northern Ontario Provincials in Timmins, Jan. 15-19.
