Terrence "Terry" Doyle

Terrence "Terry" Doyle

Peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of his family, and his three children by his side, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Sunday February 9, 2025, at the age of 87 years. Terry was the beloved husband of the late Jane Doyle, and the loving father to Christopher, James “aka Jaymz Bee”, and Shawna Latimer

Terry had kept his positive attitude and sense of humour even though due to throat cancer he wasn't able to eat or drink for the past 22 years. He died without pain knowing that he was loved. Of course, we are sad that Terry has passed but we understand his decision. There was no cure in sight, and he didn't want to spend years hooked up to a machine in a hospital. He consulted MAID and asked to go. He didn't believe in a personal god or an earthly type of afterlife. In fact, he once said in his book "I thank God every day that I'm an Atheist". The intelligent energy spark of life that lived in Terry's body has gone and is again part of the universe. To say his memory is a blessing is a great understatement. He embraced life and enjoyed the last twenty years with no complaints. He even once joked: "I haven't been sick since I had cancer, apparently not eating is good for your health" (he was fed intravenously through a tube directly to his stomach). He always had enough nutrients to survive.  He could still go on long drives, paint and play cards. He loved classic movies and reading.

Terry had many careers, he trained as a Mountie, riding horses in Alberta. He owned and managed McCubbins Menswear in North Bay for many years and then became a real estate agent. He always loved showbiz and sang in amateur stage productions. Even after a car accident (his tongue was in seven pieces and stitched together) he became a member of the North Bay Choral Society. He also enjoyed gambling, including trips to Las Vegas, Niagara Falls and Atlantic City - and was a golf enthusiast. A member of The North Bay Golf & Country Club, Pinewood Park Golf Club and Osprey Links in Callander.

He wrote a book about his life. 250 pages which he describes:

These anecdotes from my memoirs of 80 years have formed the basis of my "CSP"...common sense philosophy. This book and its stories are a combination of humorous and, sometimes serious, examples that led to how I arrived at my beliefs.

The fun stories include training for the RCMP (the day I fell off my horse), driving experiences (including police altercations), children's tales (suitable for Reader's Digest), Vegas vacations, Celebrities (George Carlin's 3 bonus words) etc. More serious examples of racism. bigotry and religion. If you've read this far, finish the exercise and buy the book!

For family and friends who wish to attend, please RSVP with James Doyle (jaymzbeesez@gmail.com) who will fill in the rest of the details and provide hotel information for those who are traveling.
