The Kindness Project Gears Up

North Bay gears up for The Kindness Project’s second annual Kindness Week. Schedule Below
It’s back! The Kindness Project returns June 9 to 13, and this year, it’s louder, bolder, and even kinder.
The campaign is built on the simple yet powerful idea of “Do good. Feel good,” the science of kindness, and its positive impacts on mental and physical health.
Last year, The Kindness Project sparked more than 1,200 acts of kindness. This year, we’re aiming to do gooder and feel gooder. (Yes, we know that’s not proper grammar, but hey, kindness plays by its own rules.)
“There are many rewards to acts of kindness,” said Mary Davis, CEO of the Canadian Mental Health Association, North Bay and District. “They help us feel better, they help those who receive them, and they help us build a better community.
“Our hope is to highlight kindness as a powerful mental health tool, one that can make you feel happier, reduce stress, anxiety and loneliness, build connection and ease depression,” she added.
“We also want to ignite random acts of kindness and create a movement to make our community kinder year-round.”
What to expect during Kindness Week 2025
Monday, June 9: A kick-off at 10 a.m. with a flag-raising and proclamation at City Hall, followed by kindness crews spreading smiles (and cupcakes) across the city.
Tuesday-Thursday: We’ll show appreciation for military personnel, City of North Bay and DNSSAB staff, hospital workers and first responders.
All Week: Students from M.T. Davidson, Woodlands and Vincent Massey schools will lead the charge with kindness activities, assemblies, and gestures that ripple into their neighbourhoods.
Friday, June 13: From noon to 1:30 p.m. everyone is invited to a free outdoor lunch at the Main and Fraser parkette. In case of rain, the event moves inside to CMHA North Bay and District’s Peer Connections centre, 194 Main St. W. Come hungry, build connection and celebrate downtown, the heart of our community.
Bonus: Student reporters will share highlights from the week in a special Kindness Cast, airing on YourTV North Bay Cogeco and YouTube.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Captain Kindness who will be popping up throughout the week and reminding us that kindness is a superpower.
