Voyageur 200 Charity Gravel Cycling Event Returns in 2024
Its mission in supporting the NBRHCF is to raise awareness around a heart and stroke disorder called Aphasia (www.aphasia.ca) through a love of bikes and endurance sport.
In a Month's time the sounds of squeaky brakes will zoom around the gravel back roads of the small town Corbeil, Astroville, Bonfield, Mattawa and everywhere in between. Most importantly, the organizers want to hear the sounds of laughter and see smiling faces because this event is for everyone who owns a bicycle. To complete the shortest distance course, the 60km; all you need is a bike and adventure in your soul. We also provide snacks every 20 kilometers if you run out of adventure.
We have been working hard this year to create the best finish line experience around. All participants finish with a beautiful edible medal provided by The Green Store North Bay. Then continue enjoying your day with a BBQ provided by United Rental and a Cold Beer by Gateway Brewery. You can cheer on your fellow participants at the Four Season Club on Corbeil Road while enjoying live entertainment all afternoon. Anyone that wants to come join the fun can feast at the BBQ for a donation to the NBRHCF and cash bar.
The Voyageur 200 makes its return on September 7, 2024 to Nipissing District’s rugged gravel backroads and remote wilderness trails. With the first year a resounding success, the organizers are aiming high, hoping to attract over 150 riders to this year’s event with a set fundraising goal of $6000.
The ride is organized by local cyclist and stroke survivor, Jeff Miller in partnership with Discovery Routes and a community of volunteers eager to see the ride grow. Its mission in supporting the NBRHCF is to raise awareness around a heart and stroke disorder called Aphasia (www.aphasia.ca) through a love of bikes and endurance sport. Teaming up with Discovery Routes is a great way to showcase the incredible network of trails across the region, help grow the community of riders and encourage new investments in trails.
The Voyageur 200 will have three different length courses on the roster: 60, 100 and an epic 200 km race starting in Corbeil and following a series of backroads and trails circumventing Trout Lake and the Mattawa River system through North Bay, Mattawa, Calvin and Bonfield. Riders will also be welcome to join a shorter pre-ride on September 6 to warm up for the main event. Race details including registration, technical requirements and sponsorship opportunities are outlined on the race website at https://thevoyageur200.ca/, on Facebook @thevoyageur200 and Instagram @the.voyageur200. Volunteers are needed for the day of the race and sign up on the website.
