Thomas David Fletcher

Thomas David Fletcher

September 16, 1944 – July 28, 2026

It is with much sadness that the family of Tom Fletcher has to announce his passing on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre after a lengthy and courageous battle with PLS, a rare variation of ALS.

Tom was predeceased by his parents Edna (Hawkins) and Reg Fletcher, his first wife Susan Beveridge and daughter Sheena Lazarou.  He will be lovingly remembered and leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend Lee Richmond-Fletcher, his children Tom Jr. (Kim), David (Dana), and Peter Lazarou along with stepchildren Erin (Emil), Adam (Maya), his grandchildren Hayley, Brenden, Emma, Corben, Ethan, Sophia, Audrey, Claire, London and Ava and his sister Linda and brother-in-law Keith (Brenda).

Born in North Bay, Tom spent most of his life in the area.  At every stage, he was deeply involved in the community, supporting children, adult learners, athletes, and visionaries. He spent most of his teaching career at West Ferris Secondary School, where “Sir” specialized in English and taught a variety of programs.

Tom (Fletch) was a lifelong athlete, from street hockey and football (high school and university), to full-time golf, all contributing to his cherished memories as “Coach”.  Sharing his time, energy and talents allowed “Mr. Volunteer” to support numerous community organizations including teams, churches, museums, choirs, parks, recreation programs and special projects.  His dedication and thoughtful leadership were highly respected and greatly appreciated.

Retirement years with Lee brought an unexpected “bonus” with their new life together including extended family, extensive travelling, golfing, renovations, and many new friends and adventures resulting an invaluable collection of wonderful memories.

As per Tom’s wishes, cremation has occurred and visitation will be held at Martyn Funeral Home in North Bay on August 18, 2026, from 6pm to 9pm.

In lieu of a donation, and in honour of Tom’s memory, please give some of your time to encourage, guide and support others to fulfill their potential.
