Three drivers charged with ‘fail to move over’ during recent blitz
Ontario Provincial Police say they remain committed to raising awareness and enforcing Ontario’s Move Over Law to protect lives.
This after a recent traffic safety initiative conducted by the North Bay OPP.

Police say it was carried out on highways throughout the North Bay cluster last weekend, in response to ongoing concerns about motorists failing to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles stopped at the roadside.
Over the two-day campaign, officers charged three drivers for failing to move over/slow down for stopped emergency vehicles.
They also filed 10 charges for speeding, four for prohibited driving, and one for display screen visible to driver.
Ontario’s Move Over Law requires drivers to slow down and proceed with caution when approaching an emergency vehicle parked on the roadside with its lights activated.
On multi-lane highways, drivers must also move over and leave one lane between their vehicle and the emergency vehicle if it can be done safely.
Police say failure to comply can result in fines ranging from $490 to $2,000 and three demerit points.
They add since 1989, five OPP officers have lost their lives on Ontario roads after being struck by passing vehicles while performing their duties.
