Scott McFarlane, Inspector of the Criminal Investigations Unit states; “Smaller communities in the north and throughout Ontario are not immune from criminal elements that are spreading outwards from the GTA. Crime has no borders, and with the increase and prevalence of firearms, dangerous individuals and powerful drugs, particularly opiates and their various derivatives, it is imperative that policing agencies work in partnership to fight this type of criminal activity. The NBPS, OPP and policing agencies throughout Ontario work collaboratively to ensure to keep firearms, dangerous offenders and the substances they sell for profit from our streets. The citizens of North Bay and all communities are the eyes and ears of the police, and play an important role in reporting suspected criminal activity. If you see something suspicious, report it to your local police agency or crime stoppers.”

The North Bay Police Service would like to thank the the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit for their assistance with this investigation.

Both of the accused were held in custody, pending a bail hearing.
