Tourism operators seeking creative ideas
If you have a new idea for tourism in the northeast, several regional groups, including Tourism North Bay want to hear from you.
The Northeastern Ontario “Spark” Mentorship & Grants Program was officially launched last week.
The program’s goal is to inspire entrepreneurs, small businesses, non-profits, and community groups to come forward with creative ideas that will spark new tourism offerings, experiences, and collaborations in the region.
Selected applicants will receive a $3,000 seed grant, mentorship and additional partner support to help bring their new tourism ideas to life.
Past recipients include culinary experiences, stand-up paddle board programs, pop-up ice bike rentals, floating cafe & events and more.
“While challenges remain, we are optimistic about the future of Northern Ontario, and it is essential for each of us to contribute to making our region a preferred destination for visitors,” says David MacLachlan, Executive Director, Destination Northern Ontario. “We look forward to the journey ahead and working together in partnership to deliver successful programming that will better enable all of us to grow and prosper.”
Applications are being accepted until Oct. 29 with three winners selected after a juried review process and a pitch session for the finalists.
