Trappers goalie signs in Powassan
The Powassan Voodoos have signed North Bay U18 AAA Trappers netminder Carson Ruddy.
The NOJHL club says he’s a star goalie from North Bay, who had a perfect 18-0 regular season last year and was 4-0 in the Great North Tournament of Champions, leading the Trappers to the league championship.
“Signing with the Voodoos means a lot, it’s kind of where I have wanted to be for the last couple of years now, and it feels good to finally be here,” says Ruddy.
He also led the Great North league with five regular-season shutouts.
“I’m a calm, steady presence goalie who comes ready to compete and be there for the team,” says Ruddy.
Chris Dawson, Voodoos general manager, says the Ruddy is a ‘a winner, no doubt.’
“Carson moves efficiently and has had some great goaltending coaching from Rob Graham,” says Dawson. “We have been impressed with his timely saves, and on top of that, he’s developed into one of the top puckhandling goalies in the province, so that is a bonus, so we are glad to bring Carson to Powassan.”
Ruddy will join veterans and prospects at Pete Palangio Arena on July 4 and 5 for the Voodoos Summer Prospects Camp.
