Trappers Win Big in Timmins

The Under 15 AAA Tightline Construction Trappers overcame a delayed travel start, a closed Highway 11N and sitting on a bus for 7 hours as they made their way on snow covered roads to Timmins to take on the Timmins Majors on Saturday.

7 Hour icy road trip

Nevertheless, the Trappers stormed out of the gates to win 9-2.

Ronan Grant open the scoring in the 1st at the 13:43 mark with an assist from Cedar Montreuil. The score remained 1-0 until late in the first, when Cameron Gelinas chipped one in from Kobe Gravelle and Miguel Brunette at 1:48 remaining in the first.

In the second, Khov Long found the back of the net with an assist from Miguel Brunette, at 13:41. Four and half minutes later Emerik Bray scored with assists coming from Cameron Gelinas, and Aiden Duchesne. Timmins fought back and 47 seconds later, Timmins Major's Phillippe Lafontaine scored an unassisted goal. Owen Smith scored at the 3:50 mark, to restore the four-goal lead, with assists from Miguel Brunette and Cedar Montreuil. With 16 seconds left to go in the second, Ronan Grant got his second goal, with assists from Owen Smith and Khov Long.

The third period, Khov Long scored his second goal of the game at the 16:04 mark with Aiden Duchesne assisting. Two and half minutes later, Frank Popkie found the back of the net with an assist from Khov Long. Cedar Montreiul scored unassisted at the 11:05 mark, making it 9-1. Timmins Philippe Lafontaine rebounded with his second goal and that was how the game ended.

Game two of the two game set goes Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
