Two area men charged as part of child exploitation investigation
A joint investigation in the fight against online child exploitation involving the OPP and 25 other police services, including the North Bay Police Service, has led to 63 people being charged across the province.
They include a 22-year-old city man and a 33-year-old man from Redbridge.
As part of Project Time, investigators targeted individuals making, possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material
“Project Time is a testament to the dedication and commitment of law enforcement professionals across Ontario and Canada to protect children from exploitation,” says OPP Detective Staff Sergeant Tara Clark, Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Strategy Lead. “The results of this operation demonstrate the power of collaboration, the strength of the Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Strategy and the relentless pursuit of those who prey on the most vulnerable.”
Police say 51 victims were identified and safeguarded, with appropriate support provided to those impacted.
They add over 200 charges were laid, with over 260 investigations conducted and another 150 ongoing.
