Two Men Arrested in Robbery at North Bay Home
The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) has arrested two North Bay men in connection with a robbery at a residence on March 12, following an investigation by the Street Crime Unit (SCU).
On March 12, at approximately 6:00 a.m., two individuals entered a residence on the 300 block of Main Street East. The occupants, who were known to the suspects, were threatened with a weapon, and controlled substances valued at approximately $1,200 were stolen. On March 18, the co-accused, Boyer, was arrested without incident at the North Bay Police Service headquarters. The following day, March 19, the accused, Sutherland, was arrested in the 200 block of Main Street East.
The accused, Shaquille Sutherland, 32-year-old, male, of, North Bay Ontario, has been charged with:
- Robbery with Violence
- Break, Enter Dwelling House – Commit Indictable Offence
- Pointing a Firearm
- Firearm – Use While Committing Offence
- Disguise with Intent
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Four Counts of Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The co-accused, Lester Boyer, 37-year-old, male, of, North Bay Ontario, has been charged with:
- Robbery with Violence
- Break, Enter Dwelling House – Commit Indictable Offence
- Firearm – Use While Committing Offence
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearms
"Dangerous and violent offenders have been apprehended safely and brought to justice thanks to the thorough, professional, and persistent work of our Street Crime Unit," said Insp. McFarlane. "Strong collaboration with the NBPS Emergency Response Team and the Ontario Provincial Police Tactical Rescue Unit ensured community safety was prioritized throughout this investigation."
The accused and co-accused were arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
