Two stunt driving charges filed by area police in recent days

The North Bay Police Service and North East Region OPP report two people are facing stunt driving charges after recent incidents on area roadways.

City police say officers caught a vehicle traveling 108 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone on Trout Lake Road, near Lakeside Drive last Friday morning.

On Sunday, the North Bay OPP says officers stopped a vehicle travelling 113 km/h in the posted 70 km/h zone on Highway 17 in Rutherglen.

They say the driver was a 28-year-old Hamner resident.

“Excessive speed reduces the time available to react and significantly increases both the likelihood and severity of collisions,” says A/Insp. Corrente with the North Bay Police Service. “No destination is worth that risk.”

Both drivers had their licences suspended for 30 days.

The vehicles were also impounded for 14 days.
