Man Charged with Assault with a Weapon

The North Bay Police Service has arrested and charged a 28-year-old male for assault with a weapon and robbery in two separate incidents.

On September 6, 2024, the accused was in his backyard on Aberdeen Avenue, North Bay, when he began speaking to a male victim, who was in a neighbouring backyard. The accused became aggressive and threw a baseball bat at the victim. At this point, the victim entered his residence, while a witness informed the accused that police would be contacted. The accused then fled the area.

On September 7, 2024, a female victim attended the residence of the accused to visit another resident of the location. Upon arrival, the accused began yelling at the victim. The accused then pushed the victim onto the ground and began to kick her. During the altercation, a quantity of Canadian currency fell out of the victim’s pocket and was taken by the accused. When the victim attempted to flee the area, she witnessed the accused brandish a machete. The accused chased the victim out of the residence and subsequently blocked her from entering her residence. When the accused was informed that the police had been contacted, he fled the area.

The accused in this incident is Nicholas LAROCQUE, male, age 28, of North Bay, who is charged with:

  • Two counts of Assault with a Weapon
  • One count of Robbery with Theft
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was informed that the police had been contacted, he fled the area.

The accused was located and arrested by police later that same day.

The accused and victims are known to each other.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
