Man Charged with Drug Trafficking and Driving Offences

The North Bay Police Service has arrested and charged a 51-year-old male for drug trafficking and driving offences.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on September 16, 2024, a members of the North Bay Police Service observed a motor vehicle fail to stop at a red light on Algonquin Avenue at Lansdowne Street, North Bay, and initiated a traffic stop. The accused was located operating the vehicle. The accused did not produce a driver’s license or valid proof of insurance upon request. Police then confirmed that the accused was both a prohibited and suspended driver. As a result, the accused was arrested.

Searches by police resulted in the seizure of:

  • Approximately 17 grams of suspected cocaine
  • Approximately seven (7) suspected methamphetamine pills
  • Approximately 28 grams of suspected Fentanyl
  • Approximately 6 grams of suspected crack cocaine
  • A quantity of Canadian currency

The estimated street value of the drugs seized in this incident is approximately $7,900.

The accused in this incident is Bernard Ronald SOUCIE, male, age 51, of North Bay, Ontario, who is charged with:

  • Four counts of Driving while under suspension
  • One count of Red light – fail to stop
  • One count of Fail to provide required document - driver
  • One count of Fail to Comply with Probation order
  • One count of Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • One count of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking
  • Three counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance
  • Five counts of Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
