Update: Kevin O’s walk for the cure is underway
The Country 90.5 FM morning host is walking 129 km from the Northeast Cancer Centre in Sudbury to North Bay’s downtown CIBC branch over the next four days.
Earlier this year, Kevin’s family learned his wife Josie has breast cancer and he wanted to do something in honour of her and all those who are fighting breast cancer.
As of 7:55 am on Tuesday, over $25,000 has been raised.
“When we started this idea, I thought if we can raise $5,000 that would be great. $10,000 that would be really great,” Oschefski says. “I see where we are now, and I am just so overwhelmed by the generosity of our community, organizations, businesses and schools all jumping on board.”
He also says his family is feeling the love.
“More than the money raised, which will go to a great cause helping those battling breast cancer, it has felt like the community has given our family a really warm hug and that is really what has affected me the most,” Oschefski says.
Kevin’s walk wraps up Friday at the Main Street West branch of the CIBC.
