Peacefully passed away the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the age of 92 years. Amy was the beloved wife of the late Andrew Lyle McKague, and the loving mother to Leslie Laronde (Gerald), and Ross McKague (Melanie). She was the cherished grandmother to Aimee Laronde (Christopher), and Andrew Laronde (Mélody), Simon McKague and Isabel McKague, and great-grandmother to Thomas, and Gordon Bosselle-Laronde.

Amy will be lovingly remembered by her sister Joyce Deveson (Maurice) and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, Florence Havard, Inez Kerr, Jack Adams, Clarissa Findlater, Dorothy Pierce, Marjorie Adams, Charles Adams, Thomas Adams, William Adams and Estelle Hasker. She is also predeceased by her parents Wesley Adams and Stella (nee Yuill) Adams.

Amy was second youngest in a family of 12, born in the small farming town of Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, where her father was a barber and mother was a homemaker. Amy enjoyed school and won the Governor General’s Award for the highest high school marks for Physics in Manitoba. She taught elementary school in Flin Flon, where she met Lyle. They moved to Elliot Lake in 1957 where Lyle worked in the Spanish American mining labs, and Leslie was born in 1958 and Ross in 1960. They moved to Falconbridge in 1964 where she enjoyed curling, yoga, line dancing and her book club with a lot of close friends. Amy pursued many creative activities such as piano, knitting, cross stitch, wood working, and gardening. Probably some of her fondest memories are the time that she spent at the camp with Lyle and her family. After Lyle’s passing in 1997, she continued to enjoy the lake where, well into her eighties, she could still dive off the dock into the brisk waters of Windy Lake. In 2019, Amy moved to North Bay’s Empire Living where she experienced the warmth of the Empire’s family of staff and residents.

Her greatest joy was time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Amy was amazing and had such a peaceful presence about her. She will be truly missed.

As per Amy’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering will be held at a later date. If desired, donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by her family. Online condolences can be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
