CHARTRAND, Mark

CHARTRAND, Mark

Peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of his family at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Wednesday October 16, 2024, at the age of 67 years. Mark was the beloved spouse of Jeannine Fallon and the loving father to Tyler Chartrand (Chrissy) and Trevor Chartrand (Stéphane). He was the cherished grandfather to Mackenzie (Braydon), Kennedy, and Jaxstin. He is pre-deceased by parents Hormidas Chartrand and Blanche (nee Gauthier) Chartrand. He is also pre-deceased by his siblings Arlette, Luga, Narchieka, Zee, and Mern. He is survived by his brother Octave. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Mark developed quite a zest for life in his retired years. After a successful career at Bell Canada, he acquired many hobbies and interests. He was an avid outdoorsman — whether that meant building a new deck on the house, cultivating a vegetable garden in the backyard, or just goofing around making snow angels during winter, he loved to be outside. This is also true of his adored spouse Jeannine, as they would often go on long walks by Lake Nipissing together, always hand in hand.

Mark had an incredibly sharp mind, and this was shown through his keen interest in constantly evolving his chess skills, as well as learning how to play the violin in adulthood, making it all the way to level 8 in the RCM curriculum.

Mark had an uproarious humour. He was always telling silly jokes to ensure that those around him were laughing and smiling at all times. He will be sadly missed by all friends and family that had the opportunity to know him.

The family will be receiving visitors for a memorial visitation at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Tuesday October 22, 2024, between the hours of 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. If desired, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
