Barbara McColman
We are saddened to announce the passing of Barbara McColman who passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024 at Cassellholme at the age of 84.
Predeceased by her husband, Reginald McColman as well as her parents Mary (née Mayhew) and James Dodd. Also predeceased by her three sisters Margaret Duquette, Hilda Gauthier, and Evelyn Eaton. Proud mother of Jay (Cheryl) and Scott McColman. Loving grandmother of Keegan (McKayla) and doting great-grandmother of Scarlet and Oliver McColman.
Barbara started her working career as a telephone operator for Bell Canada. After a few years, she was then hired to work for SAGE Installation, North Bay as one of the civilian phone operators in the Norad underground complex. She ended her working career as a clerk with the Fosdicks Bookstore here in North Bay.
Barbara was such a caring person who loved to volunteer her time at the St-Joseph Rehab Center, as well as with the Al-Anon family groups. She will be remembered for her fun loving, outgoing personality but most of all for her kind soul. Her many projects that she so meticulously knitted for ones she loved most, will now be cherished forever.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be held at a later date.
A heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff on A1 at the NBRHC for their care shown towards Barbara over the past few years as well as the staff at Cassellholme in her final moments.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the NBRHC Foundation (Diabetes Centre) would be greatly appreciated.
