Man Arrested in North Bay for Human Trafficking Offences

A man from Manitoba remains in custody, after he was arrested in North Bay, while driving a vehicle with a stolen Manitoba license plate.  As a result of a subsequent investigation, he has been charged with several Human Trafficking Offences.

On April 18th, 2024 the London Police Service charged the accused with Human Trafficking related offences. He was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to attend Criminal Court in London, Ontario.

On June 16th, 2024, two North Bay Police Service officers were on general patrol and received notification from the Automated License Plate Recognition device, that there was a stolen License plate affixed to an approaching vehicle.  A traffic stop was conducted in the 200 block of Lakeshore Drive, and two occupants were taken into custody.  Further investigation revealed that the male was on a release order from London Police Service in regards to Human Trafficking offences.  At police headquarters the investigation continued and further information revealed the accused was currently involved in Human Trafficking offences in North Bay

A 55-year-old Manitoba man has been charged with:

·        One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

·        One count of Trafficking in Persons

·        One count of Advertising Sexual Services

·        One count of Procuring/Exercising Control

·        One count of Material Benefit Resulting from Human Trafficking

·        One count of Material Benefits from Sexual Services

·        One count of Withholding Documents

·        Two counts of Fail to Comply with an Undertaking

·        One count of Drive Motor Vehicle – No License (Highway Traffic Act)

·        One count of Having Care and Control of a Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available (Cannabis Control Act)

The name of the accused will not be release to protect the identity of the victim.    

The accused was held in custody, pending an upcoming bail hearing.
