Stefano Crea

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stefano Crea at North Bay Regional Health Center at the age of 83.   He passed away peacefully ending his long battle with many health challenges.

Stefano will forever be missed by his loving wife of 50 years Angela, as well as his children Rosa (Rick) and Fortunato.   He was the loving son of the late Rosa and Fortunato Crea and son-in-law to the late Caterina and Antonino Romeo.

In Italy he is survived by his sister Teresa and brother Francesco (Santina) and was pre-deceased by sisters Maria and Francesca and brother Giovanni.   He is also survived by brother-in-law Francesco (Maria) Romeo and Eleonora Romeo, as well as by many nieces, nephews and cousins in both Italy and Canada.

He was born in 1941 in Podargoni, Italy.  At the age of 18, he left Italy with his brother Giovanni to go to Paris, France, in search of a better life and to help his family back in Italy.   In 1963 he moved to Toronto and later North Bay to join family and create a life in Canada.   In 1974 he went back to Italy to visit family and met the love of his life, Angela.   They married shortly thereafter in Italy and moved together to North Bay.

He spent his entire lifetime working in construction and as a builder.   He developed many projects around North Bay and his legacy will continue on for years to come.

Stefano will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend. He loved to talk to anyone he met, and they would quickly become his friend.   He touched the lives and helped countless people and will be sorrowfully missed by those who knew him well.

Thank you to the wonderful nursing and medical staff at North Bay Regional Hospital.   Their constant care and compassion will never be forgotten.

As per his wishes, a private funeral was held where he was surrounded by those closest to him. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
