Black History Month Film Event: What We Deserve – Restorative Justice and Reparation

Nipissing University and the Nipissing University Faculty Association, invite media representatives and community members to a special event in recognition of Black History Month.

This virtual event features a screening of What We Deserve, a powerful documentary by award-winning filmmaker Shelley Jarrett that explores the enduring consequences of the trans-Atlantic slave trade and calls for restorative and reparative justice.

The evening includes a live Q&A session with Shelley Jarrett, moderated by Dr. Charles Anyinam, Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at Nipissing University.

The film screening and discussion aim to foster a deeper understanding of the historic and ongoing harms faced by the descendants of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. With poignant storytelling and expert insights, What We Deserve highlights the need for meaningful change.

This event is co-sponsored by the Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) and Nipissing University.
