(Update) School bus drivers reject latest offer from Alouette
Nipissing-Parry Sound Student Transportation says the suspension of service involving Alouette Bus Lines will continue until further notice.
This after drivers voted, and rejected, the latest offer from the employer on Monday.
67 routes were cancelled because of the labour dispute.
That includes 50 in West Nipissing, seven each in North Bay and Redbridge, along with three in Parry Sound.
Alouette, meantime, says the company’s offer to increase wages by 15% was rejected.
In a release, officials say the proposal would’ve resulted in their school bus drivers being amongst the highest paid drivers in the region. They say they remain open to further talks.
Last week, Nipissing-Parry Sound Student Transportation said about 1,900 students would be impacted, if an agreement was not reached.
They also say while they’re working on possible contingency plans, families are responsible for making alternative arrangements for their children to travel to and from school.
