VALENTI, Peter
Peter Valenti, known to many as Rudy or Pizza has passed away unexpectedly at Health Sciences North in Sudbury on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the age of 74.
To say Peter was loved feels far too small. He was a presence, larger than life, deeply charismatic, and impossible not to be drawn to. Whether you knew him for a moment or a lifetime, you know he lived boldly, laughed easily, and collected stories everywhere he went, the kind that will be told for generations.
Peter was the beloved partner of Patti Cowl, and a proud and devoted father to Savannah Valenti (Nick), a stepfather to the Dustin Mulligan, Brody Mulligan (Jez) and Sarina Delaney (Chris). He was an incredibly proud grandfather to Winnie and a bonus grandfather to Chloe, Jacob and Hudson who all brought him endless joy.
He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers Frank Valenti (late Kathy), Ed Valenti (Jenn), and Paul Valenti (Jenn), along with a wide circle of extended family, lifelong friends, teammates, and countless others whose lives were made better by knowing him. He is predeceased by his parents, Fred Valenti and Jacqueline (née Gauthier) Valenti.
Peter lived a full life. He was a gifted athlete and known for his love of hockey, a passion he carried with him his entire life. In 1984, he was the proud owner of Valenti’s, a local restaurant that became a gathering place for friends, family, and the community, a reflection of Peter himself: warm, lively, and full of character.
In keeping with Peter’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the North Bay Golf and Country Club from 5:00 p.m to 10:00 p.m, where friends and family are invited to drop in at any time to share stories, raise a glass, and celebrate a life that was truly unforgettable.
If desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or KidSport North Bay would be gratefully acknowledged by his family.
