Valorie Jean Pecore
In Loving Memory of Valorie Jean Pecore
May 14, 1953 – October 13, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Valorie "Val" Jean Pecore (formally Knechtel, née Sholea), who passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Valorie was the devoted wife to Michael Pecore (predeceased) and Robert "Bob" Knechtel (predeceased) as well as long-time loving partner to Joe Stoa. Valorie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, in-law, aunt, friend, and caregiver whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of those around her. She dedicated her working years to the caring and nursing of others at Leisure World Nursing Home, a reflection of the compassion and gentle heart she carried throughout her life. Above all, Valorie cherished her family and friends. Her greatest joys were found in the simple, beautiful things in life — spending time with people, embracing the joys of the lake, and enjoying many music festivals in the area. She had a special love for helping others in their need, and she could turn almost anything into something beautiful especially with her knitting. Her creativity, loving spirit, and appreciation for life’s little moments were part of what made her so special.
Valorie leaves behind her three beloved children: Kimberly Alvisi (Luigi), Brian Knechtel (Saideh), and Luke Stoa as well as her step-daughter Dana Boulanger (Denis). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Megan, Anthony, Robert, Skyla, Gavin, Hailey, Mathew, Brittney and Courtney. Her family was a treasured part of her life, and the love she shared with her children and grandchildren will live on in their hearts for generations to come.
Though her battle with cancer has come to an end, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the kindness she shared will never be forgotten. Valorie will be remembered in the peaceful sound of waves against the shore, the beauty of a sunset, the warmth of a hug, and the countless handmade treasures she created with love. She will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. We all will miss her dearly.
In keeping with Valorie's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, it would be greatly appreciated if you would make a donation to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay. Thank you.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion West Ferris Branch 599 at 30 Legion Drive in North Bay on Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm with a luncheon and Celebration of Life to follow. And as part of the Celebration of Life, it is asked that attendees bring one stem of a special flower of your choice so it may be added to a bouquet for her burial. Thank you.
Arrangements entrusted to Basic Cremation Services.
