Vehicle Stopped on Chippewa - Drug Trafficking Charges

By Richard Coffin

A traffic stop at 1:45 am on Wednesday has netted city police about $5,000 worth of suspected drugs.

Two North Bay residents, a 39-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, are facing drug possession for the purpose of trafficking charges.

The man is also charged with impaired operation and fail to comply with a release order.

Police say the vehicle was stopped in the area of Chippewa and Cassells Streets, with officers seizing suspected cocaine and methamphetamine tablets.

The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse while the woman was released on an undertaking, with a March 4 court appearance.
