Violent Attack at a Local Store

A local man has been charged in connection with a violent incident at a McKeown Avenue retailer involving multiple assaults, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, theft, and mischief.
On Sunday, August 3, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., the accused attended the store, where two employees were outside the building. The individual became agitated during an interaction regarding store services. He then chased one of the employees into the store and assaulted them before the victim fled the scene. The accused then stole merchandise and ran after the victim in a brief pursuit before returning. Upon returning to the location, the second employee had secured the door, prompting the accused to forcibly break a window before fleeing the scene prior to police arrival.
The accused returned a second time, later in the day, and was again denied entry. He became agitated, stole a tool from a commercial vehicle located at the retailer, and threatened to use the tool as a weapon. The accused then assaulted another individual who attempted to intervene. Witnesses were able to detain him until North Bay Police Service officers arrived on scene.
The accused, Aiden Southwind, 25-year-old, male, of North Bay, has been charged with the following offences:
- Two Counts of Assault
- Theft Under $5,000
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
The accused was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
