Voo Doo's Zach Turner Commits to NCAA DIII

Another Powassan Voodoos player has committed to play hockey at the next level for the 2024-25 season.

Zach Turner, who joined the Voodoos this fall, has committed to play for the Manhattanville Valiants NCAA Division III Hockey team, the club announced on Sunday.

Peter Goulet, Voodoos head coach, says the Eagle, Colorado product has been high on his scouting radar for the past three years.

The power forward, who turned 21 on March 18, had a solid second half of the season finishing with 21 goals and 20 assists for 41 points in 56 games with the Voodoos in the regular season.

In five playoff games, he has contributed 2 goals and 1 assist in the Voodoos opening playoff series win over the Hearst Lumberjacks including the overtime winner in game one in Hearst.

"What a beauty, he gives you a honest effort every single night he plays as hard as any player I have coached in the last 20 years," said Goulet about his veteran forward. "He is a very coachable player and understands the game very well.

"Zach has a great family, Dad Cameron and Mom Kristina thank you to all three of you for trusting Zach’s final year of Junior A hockey with our organization the Powassan Voodoos."

As for Turner, he is glad he decided to play in the NOJHL this season with the Voodoos.

"The Voodoos have done well preparing me for the next level instilling discipline and building my character as a person and a player," said Turner.

"Thank you to Coach Peter (Goulet) and Josh (Hardiman) for their time in helping me navigate the process."

Turner is also excited about the opportunity to play at the next level.

"I feel blessed to have the opportunity to continue my hockey career and further my education at a high-calibre program. I am super excited to join Manhattanville and play for a great coach right in the backyard of New York City."

Turner joins Tucker Shields, Carson Ricci, Cameron Lemcke who have all received college hockey commitments already in early 2024.
