Voodoos add a pair of forwards

The Powassan Voodoos have signed a pair of junior forwards to help boost the depth of the forward group, the club annnounced on Tuesday.
They are 20-year-old Trenton product Geoffrey Boates and 18-year-old big forward Addison Murphy Rodgers.
Boates split the 2024-25 season between the Clarington Eagles and North Kawartha Knights of the Provincial Junior ‘C’ Hockey League where he netted eight goals and eight assists totalling 16 points in 35 games. He also got into one game as an affiliate with the Voodoos late last season.
Peter Goulet, Voodoos head coach, who knows Boates well, believes the late bloomer can help his hockey club in 2025-26.
“We are super excited that Geoffrey Boates signed with our team,” said Goulet.
“He was a late release from our team last year and I told Geoffrey all summer. I should’ve kept him last year. He just plays the right way every shift,” said Goulet.
As for Addison Murphy Rodgers, the 6’3”, 185 pound forward had 8 goals and 14 assists totalling 22 points in 41 games with the St. George Ravens of the Greater Metro Junior Hockey League last season.
"He's a very smart hockey player with a lot of ability,” said Goulet.
“He is another guy who has an opportunity to come in here and earn a spot. He might be in and out of the lineup of the season. However he insists he’s going to work hard to earn a regular spot.”
The Voodoos are back in action on Saturday, September 6 when they travel north to New Liskeard for a neutral site game against the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners. Puck drop is 7 p.m. at the Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena.
The Voodoos open the regular season on Friday, September 12 at the Powassan Sportsplex as they host the Soo Thunderbirds for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
