Voodoos and Trappers announce development agreement
The North Bay & District Trappers Hockey Association, and their U16 and U18 AAA programs, now have an official development agreement in place with the NOJHL’s Powassan Voodoos.
Officials say the partnership opens the door for highly skilled Trappers players to gain experience by practicing and competing at the Junior A level as affiliates.
The say both programs have had success in developing players who have gone on to thrive in professional hockey, the NCAA, OHL, and USports and this relationship will further the development of players.

“We felt like it was about time to celebrate the relationship between the North Bay Trappers and the Powassan Voodoos,” said Chris Dawson, General Manager of the Voodoos. “From day one, we have been consistently signing and developing North Bay Trappers hockey players, many of them starting as affiliates and then making their way through the pipeline to the Powassan Voodoos.”
Last season’s Voodoos team including ten former North Bay AAA Trappers on the roster.
“While the relationship is firm between the Trappers and Voodoos, the affiliation does not impede any Trappers players from affiliating with other junior teams within the NOJHL,” adds Dawson. “We aren’t in the business of holding anyone back.”
Mark Lockhart, President of the North Bay & District Trappers Hockey Association says they are becoming a desired destination for AAA hockey players of all ages and are committed to growing their programs to optimize development opportunities.
“We continue to provide a variety of on-ice and off-ice training opportunities that are strengthening our ties to local competitive hockey teams and programs in our District,” he says.
During the 2025-26 season, more than a dozen U18 and U16 Trappers participated in practices, regular season and preseason games with the Voodoos.
