Voodoos bolstered their blueline signing of Reid de Bokx

The Powassan Voodoos have bolstered their blueline with the signing of Reid de Bokx from the North Central U18 AAA Predators, the NOJHL club announced on Monday.

The 6'0", 185-pound defenceman from Minesing, Ontario had 3 goals and 12 assists f or 15 points in 35 games with the North Central U18 AAA Predators last season along with playing three regular season games as an affiliate player with the Voodoos

“This means a lot,” said de Bokx who turns 18 in November.

“I was given the opportunity to affiliate for the last two years, which has given me the chance to see how great the organization is at all levels. It has been a great room and only positive for a younger kid being called up.  I'm excited to play for coach Goulet on a full-time basis, and I can't wait to get started.

“I'm a strong defenceman who likes to use my size and strength as an advantage in our end dealing with opponents and blocking pucks.  I also recognize the opportunity to jump in the rush, chipping in on the offensive with a heavy shot.”

The Voodoos have had success with other players coming out of the North Central Predators AAA program including Parker Bowman, Riley Pitt and Finn Acton-Rinaldo.

Peter Goulet, Voodoos head coach, is happy to have de Bokx on the roster this coming season.

”He is a big body, right shot defenceman. He played well in the exhibition games he played and he played well in the regular season games he played with us,” said Goulet.

“He is a very smart hockey player, great family. They support Reid a lot and he is the right guy to offer a spot to and we are happy to have him signed here.”
