Voodoos Gisonni scores NCAA D III opportunity
Voodoos defenceman Ben Gisonni has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts located in North Adams, Massachusetts for the fall of 2026.
“Playing for the Voodoos was awesome,” said Gisonni.
“The time and opportunity that powassan offered changed my life. All the staff, players and community in Powassan were a huge reason that I am where I am at today with my commitment.”
Gisonni is the second Voodoos player to commit to a NCAA Division III, joining Marcus Krats who is heading to Concordia University Wisconsin.
Ben Gisonni, a 2005 birth year defenceman from Florida netted onegoal and 22 assists for 23 points getting into all 52 regular season games with the Voodoos in 25-26.
Gisonni spent time in 2024-25 with the Yarmouth Mariners of the Maritime Hockey League and the Mercer Chiefs of the NCDC in the United States.
Peter Goulet, Voodoos head coach, says the speedy defender has been on his scouting radar for three years.
“Ben is unbelievable skater and great on his edges,” said Goulet.
“The first time I saw Ben was in 2022, and had a solid season for us. He had some school options but we are thrilled to see him commit to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts NCAA Division III hockey program for 2026-27.”
