The Powassan Voodoos have signed North Bay U18 AAA Trappers graduating defender Jackson Culin, the Voodoos announced today.

The 18-year-old North Bay product, who was the Trappers captain, produced three goals and added 19 assists for 22 points in 2024-25.

The 6'1", 196 pounds left hand shot defender looks forward to the opportunity.

"It is definitely a really great opportunity and experience to have, I've grown up watching the Voodoos growing up and now having the opportunity to sign is really a cool experience and I am looking forward to it," said Culin, who was an invite to North Bay Battalion main camp last summer.

"I am a very competitive player who loves to win battles and work hard in our own zone as well as jump into the rush and try and create scoring opportunities."

Peter Goulet, Voodoos head coach, says the Voodoos staff watched Culin closely last season.
“Jackson Culin had a great year last year with the U18 Trappers, he was captain of that hockey team, they had a great run and a tremendous season,” he said.

Goulet says he’s a big and smart hockey player.

“He’s got some got some stuff to learn at the junior level but if he can get through it and get through the process of learning how to be an every day player, I think he's going to have a great season and be a great junior player down the road.”

The Voodoos, who just returned winless from the Terry Geddes Cottage Cup Showcase in Collingwood with a young roster, are back in action for their final pre season contest on Saturday, September 6 when they face the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners for a neutral site game in New Liskeard.
