Walking to raise funds for The Gathering Place
It’s pretty cold out there right now, but the Coldest Night of the Year is coming up on Feb. 28.
Registration is underway for the annual fundraising walk for The Gathering Place.
There are 2km and 5km walks, with officials saying the goal is to raise $57,000 this year.
They say every dollar goes directly toward their operations, helping them continue to feed the North Bay community with dignity.
Following the 2km event, there will be live music and chili.
The walk starts and finishes at École secondaire catholique Algonquin.
The Gathering Place, at 1181 Cassells Street, says their Meal Centre is a safe and supportive space where individuals can enjoy freshly prepared, nutritious meals.
They also say their Distribution Centre collects rescued or donated food then redirects it to other non-profit organizations in the area.
