Waterfront exhibit celebrating ‘100 Years of Mining’

By Richard Coffin

The local Mining Supply and Service Industry is on display at the waterfront this weekend.

The free “100 Years of Mining” interactive exhibit is open 9:30 am to 5:30 pm Friday and 10 am to 3:30 pm on Saturday.

Officials say you’ll be able to explore locally designed and manufactured mining equipment, technological advancements, and hands-on displays spread along the waterfront.

Representatives from local mining companies will be highlighting their contributions to shaping the global mining industry.

Along with a self-guided walking tour, the event also includes community conversations, industry talks and a Chief Commanda II cruise (ticketed event).

There are also free mini train and carousel rides on Saturday, courtesy of Ontario Northland.
