Wayne Charles Felice
Wayne Charles Felice, 81, of North Bay passed away October 26, 2024.
Wayne was born on September 25, 1943 to the late Henry and Mary Felice, brother to the late Janice Felice, Bonnie Larivee and Shirley Brisson. Survived by his siblings, Frank (Carole) Felice of North Bay, Gary (Marcella) Felice of Oakville and Carol (Larry) of St. Thomas.
Wayne grew up in North Bay and entered the workforce at a young age after his father passed away, he set pins at the Empire Bowling Alley, shined shoes at a local hotel but his true calling was as a Baker. He worked at G&M Bakery in Glencoe, A&P in Hamilton, Dominion in Waterloo, National Bakery in Guelph, Central Bakery in North Bay then in 1978 started working at Dominion/A&P now Metro Inc. in North Bay and retired in 2020. He was a true artisan, and his children will never forget the sacrifice he made working nights and the donuts he would bring home for breakfast.
Wayne’s family would describe him as the strongest, most stubborn, yet most loving and funniest man they knew. It is with profound sadness that they had to say goodbye to him after a very short battle with cancer. He was loved by so many people. His children, Elizabeth Felice (Kevin), Christopher Felice (Erin) and Joseph Felice (Kelli). He was also by their side when their mother, his friend and former spouse, Patricia Campbell, left us on November 26, 2023. He told us “I’m not afraid to die, I just don’t want to leave my family”, which speaks volumes to the man he was.
Grandpa Wayne unconditionally loved each and every one of his grandchildren, Briana Felice (Bella), MacKenzie Van Horn (Raven), Benjamin Felice, Katlyn Van Horn, Sarah and Michaela Felice and his great grandchildren Grayson and Lincoln. He was also loved by Malayna and Parker Walter. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Wayne would also want us to mention his very special friend, Rhonda Couchie, and the spiritual connection they shared and how much he loved her.
Wayne was an avid dart player in his early years but, his true passion was playing pool. Known as “The Banker” he was a member of Partners Pool League for 25+ years and valued the friendships he made at the pool hall. His picture hangs there proudly. You would often find Wayne at his daughter’s home on Premier Road working endlessly around her home as his love language was Acts of Service. In his final years, he became a cyclist. As soon as the snow disappeared, he was out on his bicycle almost daily until the snow fell again or down at the dock fishing.
Our family would like to say a heartfelt thank you Dr. Halpert, Dr. Moore, Dr. Blake, the staff of North Bay Regional Hospital, especially the amazing and attentive staff in the emergency department and finally the exceptional staff at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice.
Nipissing Serenity Hospice not only cared for Wayne but, our family. Their love, care and compassion were northing short of amazing, and we can’t thank them enough from the bottom of our hearts. They will always hold a special place in our hearts.
As per Wayne’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his Life will be held in the Spring after which, he will be laid to rest with his parents at St. Mary’s Cemetery in North Bay.
