Weekend manhunt near Latchford wraps up with gunfire and arrest

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after a 34-year-old man was shot and injured by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers on Sunday, near Highway 11 in the Latchford area.
The SIU says on Friday, OPP officers were searching for the man, who was believed to be armed.
An emergency alert and shelter in place order were issued, while a large-scale search took place involving several OPP units.
Police say officers located the man on Sunday, with gunfire exchanged.
They say the man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while an OPP Canine was treated for a minor injury.
The SIU has assigned five investigators and two forensic investigators to the case.
Highway 11, which was closed for the police investigation, was reopened just before 2 am Monday.
