By Richard Coffin

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says Public Health Ontario confirms a horse in the Parry Sound district has tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Officials say the five-year-old unvaccinated horse developed signs of the virus on Aug. 21 and is improving after receiving treatment.

They say confirmation of West Nile Virus in the horse means mosquitoes in that area may be spreading the infection.
