West Nipissing rehabilitating a stretch of Highway 64

Over half a million dollars in provincial funding is on its way to West Nipissing.

The municipality will use the money, which comes from the Connecting Links program, to rehabilitate Highway 64 from Dufferin Street to Sabourin Road.

“This infrastructure project will see the rehabilitation of a 770-metre section of Highway 64, significantly improving road conditions and enhancing safety for both residents and travelers,” states a release. “The total project area encompasses approximately 6,860 square metres, with an additional 700 square metres of work at intersections.”

The approved project includes milling and paving of the stretch of roadway, replacing two culverts and more.

Officials say the work is expected to be completed during this year’s construction season.

They add the Connecting Links Program provides funding to eligible municipalities to repair roadways and bridges that connect two ends of a provincial highway through a community.
