Western over Nipissing Lakers

Western over Nipissing Lakers

The Nipissing University Lakers men's hockey team came up just short again, falling to the Western Mustangs for the second straight game.

After a tough loss Friday night, the Lakers dropped Saturday's contest by a final of 3-1 to end their weekend on home ice.

The Mustangs opened up the scoring in the first, going up a goal early on.

The game stayed that way until Lakers captain Devyn Mayea scored his second of the game on the power play to tie things up.

David Campbell drew the lone assist on the goal.

Western would reply later in the period, then add a goal in the third to seal the win and grab the two points.

Reece Proulx finished with 30 saves in the game, while Nipissing had 23 shots of their home.

The Lakers remain at home next weekend, hosting RMC Friday and Lakehead Saturday night.
