William “Bill” Foslett
Foslett, William John - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father William “Bill” Foslett, August 7, 2026; in his ninety-first year. William was predeceased by his loving wife Mary and parents Orville and Cora Foslett, of London Ontario.
William is also predeceased by daughters Susan (David) Laferriere and Cheryl (Marc) St. Georges. He is also, predeceased by his sisters Dorothea “Dodie (David) Moore, Marylynne (predeceased Bill) Nagel and brothers Bruce “Bud” Foslett and Ron (predeceased Andrea) Foslett.
Left to mourn is his son Kevin (Pam) Foslett, daughters Michele (Mark) Tourville and Tracey (Kerry) Laferriere and sister and Carole (predeceased Ted) Smith and brother Ted (Vicki) Foslett.
William had immense love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Melissa (Eric), Dave (Ricki), Mike (Ashley), Tim (Angela), Sara, Matthew, Ashley (Chris), Karley, Alex, Zachary (Kaela) and Benjamin. Great grandchildren, Sebastien, James, Emma, Brooke, William, Connor, Wyatt, Axel and Arya; also, Brook, Emmalee and Jason.
William enjoyed puttering around his workshop and yard. Helping Mary in the gardens and doing puzzles with her. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his BBC soap and many detective programs. Going to Ivan’s to have breakfast and a chit chat with the staff. He enjoyed talking of his military service and of their overseas postings in RCAF 1st Wing Marville, France and living in Ethe, Belgium. He and Mary appreciated packing up the car and going through a few countries on a weekend drive.
William proudly served his country Militarily from 1954 until his retirement with the rank of Warrant Officer in 1977. Through this time, he served in the Navy for 5 years and the balance in the Canadian Armed Forces. He crossed the Arctic Circle (C.F.S. Inuvik) at the rank of Corporal from 9 Sept to 14 Oct 1971. He also served with the United Nations Emergency Force II (UNEF ll), a Canadian Peacekeeping Mission in Egypt from Nov 1973 to Apr 1974. His postings included Halifax, Nova Scotia, Marville, France, Summerside PEI, North Bay and Cold Lake, Alberta. He finished his career working at CFB North Bay as a civilian in the Construction Engineering Section until 1994. His total service to the Canadian Government was 40 years.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Cassellholme LTC, with thanks to all PSW’s, RPN’s and Nurses; especially Enzo, Denise, Alysha, Danielle and Julie. Also, a great thank you to NBRHC, Unit A1; Dr. Collins, and nurses Joan, Tracey, Heather, Louise and to all the fabulous PSW’s and RPN’s and the administrative staff.
Family and friends will be received at Hillside Funeral Services on August 22, 2026, visitation from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, with a tribute service to follow from 1:00 – 1:30 pm. If you wish to make a donation, the family would appreciate it being made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or NBRHC Senior Mental Health Unit or North Bay Military Family Resource Centre or a charity of your choosing.
