Woman pointed a loaded crossbow at a victim
The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) has arrested a North Bay woman following a weapons-related incident on Trout Lake Road. Officers responded quickly, seized the weapon, and arrested the woman shortly after.
On August 17, at approximately 8:30 p.m., NBPS Patrol Section responded to a call in the 2100 block of Trout Lake Road regarding a report that the accused had allegedly pointed a loaded crossbow at a victim while making threatening remarks. Upon arrival, officers seized the weapon. The accused fled on foot and was arrested a short time later.
The accused, Alona SPLANE, 52-year-old female, of North Bay, has been charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death
- Three Counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order
“Threats involving weapons are taken seriously and can pose a significant risk to both police officers and the public,” said A/Deputy Chief Jeff Warner. “In this case, frontline officers responded quickly, intervened, and seized the weapon, helping to reduce the risk of further harm.”
The accused was arrested, appeared for a bail hearing on August 18, 2026, and was remanded into custody. The accused is scheduled to appear in court again on August 26, 2026.
