WOOD, Grace

Peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family at Cassellholme-Home for the Aged-on Sunday March 29, 2026, at the age of 84 years.

Grace was the beloved wife of Andrew Wood, and the loving mother to Eve-Marie Wood. She was the cherished sister to Inez, Elsie and Linda, and predeceased by her brother Thomas, all of Guyana.

Grace was born in Maria Johanna, Wakenaam Island, Essequibo River, Guyana, South America. She was a home economics teacher prior to immigrating to Canada in the late 1970s, where she worked as a caregiver.

Grace met Andrew and they married August 22, 1982, Eve-Marie was born shortly after. They moved to North Bay, Ontario the following year. Grace attended Canadore College and became a Dietary Aide at the North Bay Psychiatric Hospital for 30 years and was loved by her coworkers and patients. Grace became a Nurse’s Aide after her retirement from NBPH and worked for Paramed for many years before finally devoting her golden years to rest and relaxation.

Grace’s recreation time included volunteering at Cassellholme, cooking, knitting, travelling the world with her family and was an avid gardener.

Grace is predeceased by her parents Joel Woolford and Mary (nee Hendricks) Woolford. As per Graces wishes, cremation has taken place, there will be a service at a later time. If desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by her family.
