Work is underway on a new multi use path

Identified in the 2021 Parks Master Plan, this multi-year project will create safer, more accessible routes for walking, cycling, and other recreational uses while connecting two high-use park areas
Work is underway on a new multi-use gravel path linking Champlain Park to the Omischl Sports Complex.
The trail is being built with a focus on preserving mature trees, using portions of the old trail to help achieve this, and replanting any small trees that must be removed in suitable nearby locations.
Community-installed birdhouses are being avoided, and a buffer between the trail and the nearby La Vase River will be maintained. Additionally, culverts are being added to replace bridges and planks over low-lying areas, improving overall accessibility. Construction is currently taking place from the Champlain Park end.
For safety, the trail will remain closed while work continues, with this year’s construction expected to wrap up by mid-November.
Work on the trail will resume in 2026.
