Police Apprehend Quebec City Man
Quebec City man has been arrested and charged, following a forcible entry and assault on two youths in an incident on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in the 500-block area of Lakeshore Drive.
At approximately 5:17 p.m., officers arrested the accused without incident after responding to reports of a male unlawfully entering a private unit and assaulting two youths with a weapon.
Earlier in the day, the accused reportedly knocked on the door of the victims’ secured private unit, who were unknown to the accused. A short time later, the victims observed the accused acting aggressively and unpredictably outside. Upon noticing the youths, the accused allegedly began to chase after them; they were able to flee safely.
The situation escalated when the accused picked up a statue to use as a weapon and forcibly entered the private unit, aggressively pursuing the two victims inside. The youths were again able to flee, and nearby witnesses quickly contacted police.
“This was a deeply unsettling incident, and I want to commend the quick actions of our officers and the witnesses,” says A/Deputy Chief Warner of the North Bay Police Service. “Quick response was critical in ensuring the safety of the youth involved and in preventing further harm. We recognize how distressing this must have been for those directly impacted, and we thank everyone who played a role in bringing this situation to a safe resolution.”
The accused in this incident is:
Andre Madaire, 48-year-old, male, of Quebec City, Quebec, who is charged with:
- Break and Enter to Commit an Indictable Offence
- Assault with a Weapon ×2
The accused was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
