Autism Awareness Month continues with Hands hosting public speaker
Hands the Family Help Network is hosting a guest speaker this week as part of Autism Awareness Month.
The free event with public speaker, activist and author Michael Jacques is taking place Thursday night at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall.
Officials say Jacques is known for his engaging and insightful perspective on living with autism.

In 2018, he wrote and self-published ‘Can’t Read, Can’t Write, Here’s My Book’ using speech-to-text technology.
Two years later he co-authored the children’s book ‘I Belong, Can I Play?’ with Heather Gale.
“We are proud to create spaces where individuals and families feel seen, supported, and connected,” says Paula Barnes, Program Manager. “Autism Awareness Month is an important opportunity to deepen understanding and strengthen the communities we serve.”
Open houses were held in North Bay, Timmins, Parry Sound, and Bracebridge earlier this month.
