BUCHANAN, MARILYN JEAN
Marilyn Jean (Brown) Buchanan, aged 87, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on April 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, warmth, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Marilyn was a gifted painter who found joy in capturing the beauty of the world around her. Through her art, she expressed her gentle spirit and thoughtful nature. Whether painting landscapes, florals, or quiet moments of everyday life, she brought warmth and emotion to every canvas. Her art will remain a lasting legacy for all who knew and loved her.
Above all, Marilyn was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother and special auntie to many.
Marilyn will be remembered for her kindness, her quiet strength, and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. Her presence was a steady and comforting force, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
She is lovingly survived by her husband David, children Jordan (Brenda) Andrew (Cherie-Lynn) and Kevin (Esmeralda), grandchildren Billy, Bev, Dom, Jacob and Michaela, sisters-in-law Theresa and Irene and special niece Barb, who will carry her memory forward with love. Pre-deceased by her parents Waldo and Christena Brown, in-laws Jake and Georgina Buchanan and sisters Bessie, Carrie and Margaret, brothers Lloyd, Mervin, Norris, Ted, Ed and Robert.
Marilyn was born and raised in North Cobalt then moved to North Bay to work for GMAC. North Bay is where she met the love of her life. Marilyn spent her married life in Lively and Timmins. Summers for the majority of these years were enjoyed on Manitoulin Island where life-long friendships were made. In her later years she moved back to North Bay.
Friends and family may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Friday April 24 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at Omond Memorial United Church on Saturday April 25 at 1 pm. The interment of Marilyn’s ashes will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
