City police encouraging safe grad celebrations
The North Bay Police Service is congratulating graduating students while asking them to make safety a priority with celebrations.
“Graduation is a time to celebrate your accomplishments and look forward to the next chapter,” said Acting Deputy Chief Jeff Warner. “Please plan your ride home, make responsible choices and look out for your friends. Our graduates have bright futures ahead of them, and we want everyone to enjoy these celebrations safely.”
Police say plan for a safe ride home, before the party gets started, noting impaired driving continues to be one of the leading threats to road safety
For those behind the wheel, police say obey speed limits, avoid distractions, and drive responsibly.
If celebrating near local lakes or waterways, they say never swim alone or while impaired, and wear a life jacket when boating.
Overall, graduates are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings, stay with trusted friends, and look out for one another.
